Spike, Rockin' Ronnie, And Paul "Hit Man" Urbahns present:

"Music is fun for everyone"

News! Paul "The Hit Man" Urbahns has a new website @ www.hitrecordsofnashville.com . It's still under construction but please stop by and while you're at it visit his new Hit Record discussion group @ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HitRecords

The Project
OK . Come clean! If you visited this site we know that you have a certain fondness for this low budget sound-a-like record label. You either loved them or hated them. One thing is certain, a lot of talent recorded for Hit Records of Nashville. Some are familiar names [ Sandy Posey AKA Betty York, Sherry York ,Betty Richards, & Sandy, and Bobby Russell , Jalopy Five, Beasts, & The Doodles] and some completely dropped off the radar. Most artists names used by Hit Records were completely fictionous while artists Bobby Russell , John Preston, Herbert Hunter , Alpha Zoe, Benny Lattimore [Latimore] and others used their real names on occasion. Do you have info on this label or the artists? We want your input. Email us @ The Hit Record Project Please include HIT RECORDS in the subject area. Any typo's on this site kan bee blamed on Jamie - The Monkee Junkee. ~Spike

Work in progress. Click here for a very incomplete Country & Western Hits section. Locating info on these records appears to be a much more difficult task and will take longer to complete. If you have any in your collection and would like to contribute please contact The Hit Record Project . Include C & W HITS in the subject area.

I recently talked to Alpha Zoe. She is truly a superstar.

Coming Soon - Bill Beasley Biography

Spike, Aloha and Wow! I am the son of Bill Beasley who founded Hit Records. I
can't believe you have a site on all this stuff. My late Dad would have
been amazed at the interest this many years later. How can I help? I am
interested in buying MS, Hit, Spar, Songs of Faith, Tennessee and
Republic products, etc. Martin Hawkins (england) has a book coming out
soon about Dad's career. Dad founded Republic, Tennessee,
Hit, Spar, Modern Sound, Songs of Faith and two or three more which
escape me at the moment. Kirk

The Hit List. The guys that put this project together.

Rockin' Ronnie is looking for Hit records to complete his collection. Please EMAIL him if you have any you want to sell or trade. Ronnie has been collecting records for almost forty years and loves the obscure artist because they have not been "played to death" by every oldies station in the world.

Paul Urbahns would also like to hear from you if you have Hit records to sell or trade or songs recorded by Hit regardless of the label they were released on [Examples - See Hit #2 & #11 below]. Paul has been collecting and doing research on Hit Records for over 30 years. He is our resident "Hit Man" for details on the record label and artists. Paul has a wealth of information on Hit but can always use more . If you have any info on the artists or their whereabouts , or if you are one of the artists that recorded for Hit , please contact him at his EMAIL address.

Sp!ke , like Ronnie loves the obscure artist. He also is a big fan of recording artists that write their own material , tiny record labels , and just about anything that has to do with 50's & 60's recordings. In his spare time he works on discographies and websites. EMAIL Spike.

Jamie The Monkee Junkee - Super Monkees fan , great guy , and my son [Spike Jr]. He is a full time Monkee nut and in his spare time he helps with this website , doing all of the typing and trying to read my handwriting. Email him.

Update: Rockin' Ronnie has provided scans of Hit Record numbers 221 and 256 . Click here

It should be noted that a more accurate discription of the artists listed on Hit labels should be "recorded as...." since most artists names are fictionous as listed and often shared with other artists.
